Dr. Peters grew up in Northern Virginia. She attended the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor for undergrad and went on to get a master’s degree in biology from Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis. Dr. Peters completed her dental studies and earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Dr. Peters returned to the Midwest where she completed her four-year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She is currently certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). She is an active member in the American Dental Association and American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons to name a few.
Before moving back to Iowa, Dr. Peters was in a private practice in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She, her husband, James, their two daughters and yellow lab, Tucker, are looking forward to making Des Moines their home. Outside of work she enjoys watching football, exploring new restaurants, and skiing.
